Widex Hearing Aids

Widex Hearing Aids

Widex is a leading light for innovation in hearing aid technology. They receive praise from across the industry for the sound quality of their devices. Founded in Denmark in 1956, the company is one of the biggest hearing aid manufacturers and exports its technology to over 100 countries worldwide.

The company is justly proud of its reputation for delivering excellent quality sound, which focuses on what the wearer needs to hear rather than simply amplifying all sounds. Particular interest is placed in filtering out background noise, with special features available for background noise and wind noise.

The company is known for a range of firsts, including the world's first in-the-ear (ITE) hearing aid in 1985. In 1995 they also pioneered the world's first all-digital ITE hearing aid. They haven't slowed down since then. Most recently, the company has made forays into the world of artificial intelligence with the release of real-time machine learning.

Starkey Hearing Aids

Starkey Hearing Aids

Starkey has been making superior hearing aid technology for half a century. The company was founded in 1967 by William F. Austin as a hearing aid repair facility. Austin purchased a hearing aid earmold company following increased customer demand (Starkey Labs) and has never looked back. The company's technology is an excellent counterweight to the perceived dominance of Danish companies in the hearing industry.

There was a particular interest in Starkey in the 1980s as Ronald Regan wore a pair of Starkey's hearing aids during his presidency. Since that presidential endorsement, Austin himself has personally fitted hearing aids for five subsequent U.S. Presidents, two Popes, Nelson Mandela and Mother Theresa, cementing them as the superstar brand of choice.

Starkey lives to empower people with hearing loss to take control and not let their hearing loss hold them back. The motivation to serve others extends to the company's philanthropic work through the Starkey Hearing Foundation. The company has helped those with hearing loss in over 100 countries worldwide through this foundation.

Not that they have neglected their technology. Starkey remains at the cutting edge of technology among all brands.

In the hearing aid industry, Signia is regarded as a premium brand, and its products are sold around the world in more than 100 countries. While this hearing brand is newer to the marketplace, it is built on some of the same technologies of a highly respected name in hearing aids.

Most Signia hearing aids are fitted with their most recent technology, allowing people to listen more clearly to their own voices. This solves the main issues with many hearing aids in the past. They also offer a mobile application that allows consumers to get help or connect from anywhere with their listening specialist for reprogramming and advice.

A wide range of models with various features for managing hearing loss is offered by Signia, catering for hearing losses from mild to profound. The company's models are an excellent option for a simple, user-friendly hearing aid. Some of their latest models include the latest technology, including appealing and slim designs.

Oticon Hearing Aids

Oticon Hearing Aids

Oticon was founded in Denmark in 1904 and is a leading producer of hearing aids. When its founder, Hans Demant, first visited England in 1903 to obtain hearing aids for his wife, the origin of their "people first" philosophy began. Demant's dedication to meeting the needs of people who found it hard to hear in Denmark led him to start to import hearing aids reasonably soon afterward. His son William Demant has since transformed the company into the hearing powerhouse that it is today.

Amid World War II, Oticon created its first hearing aid model. Oticon has owned and managed a research facility solely devoted to hearing impairment since the 1970s. Scientists from Oticon investigate the most innovative ideas in hearing aid development at the Eriksholm Research Centre in Denmark. Current research topics include cognitive science (how the brain interprets the sound) and augmented hearing (allowing listeners to hear only what they want to hear).

This research has produced some ground-breaking initiatives, such as BrainHearing technology. This audiological approach acknowledges that speech comprehension and interpretation are cognitive activities in the brain. This is why they prioritize this over the simple amplification and removal of sounds.
